Corbon Curphey tragically passed away following an accident that occurred earlier this past week. It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that I share the devastating news that we have lost one of our beloved students, Corbon Curphey, a fourth grader in our Bedford school community. This heartbreaking event has deeply affected all of us, and words cannot fully express the grief we feel in the wake of this loss.
Who was Corbon Curphey
Corbon Curphey was a cherished member of our school, and his presence brought joy to those around him. His passing is felt not only by his classmates and teachers but by our entire school family.
Corbon’s two older brothers, Carson, a sixth-grade student, and Connor, an eighth grader, are also part of the Bedford school community. We extend our deepest condolences and unwavering support to them, as well as to the entire family of Corbon Curphey, as they navigate this incredibly painful and unimaginable time. Our thoughts, prayers, and love are with them now and in the difficult days ahead.
A post from a representative at Bedford Elementary was released saying “As we all mourn this heartbreaking loss, it is important to acknowledge that the timing of this tragedy—occurring during the summer break—means our students are not currently surrounded by the daily support systems they normally rely on within the school environment. The absence of the familiar routines, caring teachers, and peer connections that help provide comfort during difficult times can make processing grief even more challenging for young children.
In response, we are providing families with a variety of resources specifically designed to assist in navigating conversations about grief, loss, and emotional healing at home. These materials include age-appropriate tools and strategies that can help children better understand and express their feelings while also supporting parents and caregivers as they guide their children through this complex emotional experience.
Please know that even though school is not in session, you are not alone. Our commitment to the well-being of our students and families remains steadfast. We are here to offer support, compassion, and care in any way we can during this incredibly difficult time. Let us continue to keep Corbon Curphey , his loving family, and all those impacted by this tragic loss close in our hearts. Together, as a community, we can offer strength, love, and healing.
