Tribute in honor of Rob Roblin

Rob Roblin’s death was indeed heartbreaking. Following his passing a close one to him posted online “Last night, I lost a dear friend—and Baltimore lost a true legend. Rob Roblin, my longtime friend and @wbaltv11 icon, has passed away. The first photo is how I’ll always remember Rob: full of life, overflowing with heart, passionate about everything he did—and yes, often loud in the best possible way.

Rob was the very first friend I made when I moved to Baltimore 36 years ago, and that friendship stood the test of time. We bonded instantly, partly because we were both Southerners at heart. That shared background created a connection that only grew stronger over the years.

I’ll deeply miss our phone calls—filled with laughter, heated (but always good-natured) debates about politics, sports, and memories of the good old days. Rob had a rare way of expressing love without hesitation. And though men don’t always say it enough, he always ended every call with, “I love you, baby.” That meant the world. Rest in peace, my friend. I know you’re in a better place now.”
