Sam’s unexpected departure has left a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies are with the Peterson family during this unimaginable time of loss.
Who was Sam Peterson
Sam Peterson was known not just for his warm smile and outgoing personality, but for the genuine kindness and compassion he extended to everyone around him. He had an incredible heart—one that embraced others without hesitation and made people feel seen, valued, and uplifted. Whether in the classroom, on the field, in the community, or simply in everyday moments, Sam brought joy and laughter wherever he went.
His passing is a tremendous loss not only to his loved ones but to the broader Wells County community, where he was seen as a shining light—a young man full of promise, goodness, and generosity. Sam Peterson’s memory will live on in the stories shared by friends, the lessons he taught through his actions, and the inspiration he leaves behind to lead with kindness and live with purpose.
His mother, Cathie Moore Peterson, shared the deep pain and heartbreak of losing her beloved son, while also expressing her unwavering pride in the young man he became. Her words reflect the love and admiration so many held for Sam, a son who made his family proud every single day.

Sam was not only a member of our community but also a fellow Airman in the 122nd Fighter Wing with me. His life touched countless individuals and his absence leaves a wound that will be deeply felt by many.”

From July 7, M&G’s on 116 (located at 1629 NW State Road 116-90, Markle, IN 46770) will be donating 100% of the proceeds from all items sold directly to Sam Peterson’s family. During this time, the store will operate on a free-will donation basis—meaning patrons may give what they feel led to contribute for any items they choose.
