In Loving Memory of Sean Egan. Sean Patrick Egan, age 21, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, surrounded by the comfort and love of his devoted family. Born on April 29, 2003, in Dearborn, Michigan, Sean Patrick Egan was the cherished firstborn child of Patrick and Carla (Kesseler) Egan. He grew up in a close-knit, loving home alongside his three younger siblings, whom he adored and inspired with his strength, warmth, and unshakable spirit.

Who was Sean Egan

A proud graduate of Detroit Catholic Central High School in the Class of 2021, Sean left a lasting legacy during his years there. He was a dedicated and accomplished member of the swim team, where he built lifelong friendships and displayed his commitment, perseverance, and team spirit. Outside the pool, Sean also enjoyed playing travel baseball, embracing every opportunity to compete, bond with teammates, and build treasured memories that would stay with him throughout his life.

Following high school, Sean continued to excel academically and personally at Michigan State University, where he attended the Eli Broad College of Business. There, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance while also pursuing a minor in Information Technology and participating in the Honors College. His commitment to learning and personal growth was matched only by the joy he found in community and friendship. As a proud member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, Sean found a second family—one filled with brotherhood, laughter, support, and unforgettable moments.

Sean Egan will be remembered most for his incredible strength of character. His unwavering positivity, deep faith, kind-hearted nature, humility, and infectious sense of humor touched the lives of all who knew him. These qualities became even more remarkable as he faced a long and difficult journey with cancer. Despite battling the disease three times, Sean Egan refused to allow it to define his life or diminish his spirit. He confronted each challenge with courage, grace, and resilience, offering inspiration to everyone who witnessed his journey.

The phrase “Sean Strong” has become more than just a motto—it is a lasting reminder of the way Sean Egan lived his life: with purpose, with love, and with a strength that could not be broken. His legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him to live with the same heart, hope, and determination.

As an All-State swimmer, Sean’s skill and dedication to the sport were extraordinary. He exemplified what it meant to be a driven and disciplined competitor. However, what truly set Sean apart was not just his athletic excellence, but the remarkable character he displayed every single day. His kindness, humility, and unwavering positivity made him not only a valued teammate, but a true friend and role model to many.

Sean Egan’s courageous battle with cancer revealed a depth of strength and resilience that inspired all who witnessed it. Throughout his fight, even during the most challenging and painful moments, Sean never lost his spirit. He faced every obstacle with quiet bravery and an unshakable sense of hope. In recognition of his incredible perseverance and the way he inspired those around him, we are honored to name our “Unbreakable” Team Award in his memory. This award will serve as a lasting tribute to Sean’s unyielding strength, his positive attitude, and his refusal to let illness define his identity or dim his light.

Sean Egan Celebration of Life

Family, friends, and loved ones are warmly invited to gather and celebrate Sean Egan’s life on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, located at 1700 W Highland Rd, Howell, MI 48843, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Rosary service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Sean Egan Funeral Service

A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day, Friday, May 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2099 N Hacker Rd, Howell, MI 48855, with Father Francis George officiating. Visitation at the church will precede the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Sean will be laid to rest in the cemetery directly across the street from the church following the Mass.

Sean’s light will continue to shine through the lives he touched and the example he set. Though his time with us was far too short, his legacy of strength, love, and resilience will live on forever.
