James Dean Worley was later arrested for the crime. He was found guilty of kidnapping, assaulting, and murdering Sierah, and received a death sentence along with over 20 years of additional prison time for other charges. A graduate of Evergreen High School’s class of 2014, Sierah was studying Human Resource Management at the University of Toledo’s Junior College of Business at the time of her death. Her funeral took place on July 28, 2016, at Christ the Word Church in Sylvania. Mourners from across the area attended, a reflection of the many lives she had influenced during her short life. She was buried at Amboy Township Cemetery near Metamora, in the same area where she had grown up.
In the wake of her tragic passing, Sierah’s memory sparked a wave of community action. A memorial event called “Take Back the Roads” was organized to honor her, held along the road where her bicycle was found.
